Hello
If I wanted to get 4 convicts with no other tankmates how big would the tank need to be?
Thanks in advance

I would say no less than 55 gallons for four of them. However, if it was me, I would use a 75 gallon tank. The chances of two of them pairing off would be very good indeed if you'd just bought four of them at a very young age. If this is the case, it's much better have a large tank so that his aggression does start rearing its ugly head, they've got that little bit more space

Thats perfect
I will have a spare 75 in a month or two.
I had one convict before and they seem to be pretty
cool fish. He was a lot smaller than the other fish in the tank but held his own no problem.
thanks

Try to get them all the same sex or you will have a breeding pair. To get a breeding pair add a male and a female and just add water. Convicts are really aggressive when breeding. When i had a pair, i would put my finger to the tank and move it around and the convict would follow it like it was a magnet

Thanks for the advice. What other cichlids out there are easy to breed and not so agressive and don't need more than 75 gal. of tank space?

dempseys are easy, but they grow too fast and become to aggressive for convicts. as the other guy said, a pair and water = convict babies. they breed like hell. ive heard firemouths breed easy as well. im pretty sure i got a male and female firemouth but no pairing going on yet. they would make good tankmates for ur convicts as well.
