Lighting? 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I think my oscar hates my lighting - he doesn't swim as much when it's on, but as soon as it's off he's all over the place.

Anyone have any favorites/recommendations?

i've noticed that my oscar tend to be more comfortable with subdued lighting.try lowering the wattage on the bulb and see if this helps at all.

From my experience most oscars dont care if the light is on or off (once they are settled in that is). If fact i would say mine prefer it on because they know they dont get fed when it is off

If your fish dont like the light you can try to put something in between the light and the tank (something opaque maybe)

Or you can buy a bluemoon bulb (its a blue bulb- used mainly for marines). If will light your tank but its not very bright. The problem with this is you will have trouble seeing your fishes colours
