tigar oscar color 2008/05/12 03:06 Karma: 0
I am a new tigar oscar owner, is it normal for the tigar to go from it's normal black and red coloring to a whiteish color with if red markings to also become paler. The normale color comes back seconds after it changes. Is he/she sick? only had the tigar for about 48 hours.

oscar colour will fade due a few factors with stress being one of them. i've notice that the colour of my tigers also fade depending on the intensity of the light they are passing. i wouldn't worry about it to much about it since you just got them and they are not yet settled in to their new enviroment.

Often oscar's react to changes in their environment by fading or darkening. Normally it is not a huge cause for concern especially if the oscar in question has just been through a move or other major change. But it is always advisable to test your water, as color changes are one of the signs something might not be quite right with it. Especially as you mention you have only had the oscar in question a short while.
