I have 3 oscars, 1 tiger and 2 albinos. They are about 8-10 months old and 8-9" long. A few days ago I noticed the tiger stays on the far left side of the tank and the two albinos stay very close to each other on the right. They only get together when its time to eat. Well last night the albinos were opening their mouths and vibrating but they were not chasing each other away. I turned on the light and their sexual organs were sticking out. I was trying to look at them but they went back in. (I guess I'm not too atractive) but anyway I think they are to young to breed but do they have practice sesions of any sort? Thanks - Jon

I've never observed the Oscars showing their sexual organs intermittently. This may sound silly but are you sure they were just having a poo, occasionally a little bit of faeces sticking out can look like a sexual organ. I also think your Oscars are too young to breed at the moment. When Oscars start breeding, they often fail the first few times. Often, the female will lay eggs before the male is ready. Your Oscars will be mature when they are at least 12 months old, more than lately 14 or 15 months old. Remember, if you buy your Oscar when it's between one and 3 inches, it could already be two or three months old so calculate that when you're determining how old your Oscar is.

Well, I have had them 9-10 months so they could be around a year I guess, and yes I am positive thats what they were because I looked underneath and they were protruding from behind the anus but they didnt apper to be sticking out to far or as far as I imagine the do when breeding.

give it a few weeks and you will find out one way or the other

It is not unusual for 2 oscars to buddy up and do that vibrating thing
