Your tank is approximately 50 gallons- not even big enough for a single oscar in my opinion, so the answer if definately no.

It will be wery hard for u to keep thank clean, and size rely dont matte when it comes to oscar fish. They grow werry fast, and they grow huge, it will be hard for u to keep 50galon clean with only one oscar, not to mention that they will prolly fight for territory, so u will be in loads of problems, my advice is stay with one oscar, dont try that....

The minimum for one oscar, a lot of people on this site agree is 75gallon for a full grown O. If you do keep 8 O's in suck a small tank, (when I say small I mean small for that amount of fish!) you will need to do alot more water changes and filtering!!
I would advise to have the 8 O's in a bigger tank!
Personal oppinion of course!

I'm somewhat confused on what to think about all this, my mother had 3 oscars in a 55 gallon tank for 5 years until she had to give them away, and were always fine. So I have just gone off what she did but I have 2 in my 55 gallon, I have to clean it a lot but it works out fine.

Well if you ask me, I think it's certainly possible to keep Oscars alive in cramped quarters if you keep up with the required cleaning. Still them surviving doesn't mean they would lead a happy life IMO, and keeping them in tanks in general means limiting them already if you compare it with the space and fresh water they have in the wild, so I believe we should try our best in caring about them and not go for the absolute minimum.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the first post and the few that followed. Its hard not to drift off topic with something that is so well written, you definitely answered alot of questions and inadvertently created a ton more.

Anyhow, i can safely say i'll be looking forward to reading more of your posts dinger.

Currently i have 2 oscars housed in a 77 gallon tank and i'm totally confident that i'll be able to deliver the kind of care these fish require. I've fallen in love with fish keeping since discovering this website and i can't thank the members of this forum enough.

cheers
