I was recently sent a couple of DVDs by one of our members who goes by the name of Dinger. Steve, to give him his real name has been an Oscar enthusiast for many years. In fact, he owned and bred some of the first albino Oscars ever to come into this country. Over the years, Steve had successfully bred various types of Oscar. Some years ago, he put together an Oscar Fish tutorial DVD that not only covers keeping and caring for Oscar Fish, it also has included an extensive section on breeding Oscars. I have had quite a few friendly discussions with Steve and he offered to send me the DVDs for me to view. I must say that I was very impressed with his work. He filmed (with the help of other people I would have thought), edited and narrated the whole project. There aren't many videos dedicated to Oscars out there. I am endeavouring to put more on Oscarfishlover.com as my Oscars mature. However, Steve DVDs are certainly worth a look, especially for the breeding sequences.
Just remember that Oscars have the potential to produce many hundreds of offspring. If you are going to breed Oscars, take it seriously and preferably have somewhere that will take the babies off you.
If you would like to purchase the DVD, you can visit Steve's own website at
