OFL created the topic: Who are you?

We are starting to get quite a few regular people on here now. It would be nice to know if you are male or female and how old you are, if that's not being too nosy

If you've read the homepage, you know me anyway. If you haven't, I am male and 37 years old (38 in June)

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

I pretty much guessed you were female (don't know many blokes called Alyce :P ) and going by your e-mail, I sort of guessed your age. 1984, that was a fun year, had my first serious girlfriend. God, I feel really old now

That's why I made the suggestion that we all fill in a SIGNATURE with our First names, Ages, (gender if necessary or not obvious) and Location in General.

Need to give away one healthy 1 year old Oscar if you know of anyone interested. See the adoption thread for photos. Thanks!

So of course it was good. haha. and trust me, you're not old until you start complaining about "that damn technology the kids play with today". Well, I guess even I could complain about some of the stuff, but you know what I mean!! :P

When I was 14, we didn't have all these fancy computer games like the kids do these days.......................... yawn :P

I always remember my grandad's favourite cliche "when I was a youngster, I could go to the cinema, buy a load of sweets, get the bus home and still have change out out of a sixpence for a packet of Woodbine " well, maybe it wasn't Woodbine, probably something else.

haha. mum and dad often come to me to set up their televisions, computers etc. I have just got an iPod and mum and dad were so fascinated by the whole concept. Photos AND music on the same small gadget. When I tell them how much certain items are, they just don't believe me. I always get the whole, "but when I was young".....yeah yeah. Times change, expences rise out of the already extended roof!

OFL replied the topic: Re:Who are you?

You have just got an iPod? I have owned an iPod since last year, actually I have got two iPods now. The latest one is the 80 gig version. I consider myself to be fairly good at working things out, computers no problem, I can normally get myself around the new DVD player without looking at the instructions. However, this iPod is a different ball game altogether. For the life of me, I just can't work out Itunes and how to set things up.

At the moment, I've got about 3000 songs on my iPod. A lot of them I have downloaded. I downloaded 1000 songs of the 80s a while back. When I downloaded, it was in a folder. I put the folder onto the iPod but I found that it wasn't like putting an album on the iPod. Would album, you literally choose the album, play it and then choose another one if you want. When I put all the songs on which were contained in a folder, they all separated so each song was literally like an album. If I want to choose an album to play, and that album, or artist begins with the letter s, I have got to scroll through individual songs. Because it is 1000 songs of the 80s, you can imagine there's quite a few groups beginning with each letter of the alphabet so it takes a long time to get to the one I want. This is very annoying, I wanted to have the choice of going to a folder/album and choosing to play 1000 songs of the 80s.

I have found the same thing happens if I make a compilation album up. If I choose various songs and put them in a folder on my computer and then transferred onto the iPod, they all separate, I can go to that folder/album and play all those songs one after another.

If you have any idea what's happening, please enlighten me? Also, I have tried to delete all the songs of the iPod and it doesn't seem to do it. I just can't work it out, I like the iPod, I have it playing on top of my iPod hi-fi and it is really good. I just want to start afresh and load lots of new songs on they can't until I delete what's on there.

Sorry if I've confused you. Any help you can give me, I would be very grateful

pooky_84 replied the topic: Re:Who are you?

haha. I think I know what you mean. With deleting the songs, all I have to do is when I'm in iTunes, I click on a folder that has music in it, below where it says iPod, then I click on the boxes that have the ticks in them(they're on the left of each song) to make the ticks go, then click on file and go down to "update iPod".
This shoulf take those songs off your iPod. If not, I'm not sure!!
So thats... *click on a folder below the iPod folder in the iTunes menu
*there should be a list of songs appear.
*on the left of the song titles there should be boxes with ticks in them
*click over these ticks so they dissapear from the songs you don't want
*click on File top left and choose "update iPod" from the File menu
*your iPod should have deleted these songs from this opperation.

With putting them into folders so you can view them easier, uh, I really am not sure mysefl! Sorry. I have the same problem, but I olny have like 10 songs on it!
But all my songs are in the same folder, so when I want to choose the songs, i just go to playlists where I choose the folder I made up. Just go to File and choose new playlist. From there, I just put all my songs into the folders I want so it's easier to choose like Rock, Pop, Soft, etc. Uh, I hope that's not too confusing, it made perfect sense to me, but that's me....haha
