jamie85 created the topic: Enrichment

I bought my oscar from classifieds and I was wondering if anyone else uses enrichment for their oscar?

I put plants in there that I allow him to rip up, put new items in the tank and feed different food as much as I can (crickets, meal worms, bloodworms, brine shrimp and occasional cichlid food.

Tell me what you do to improve the life of your oscar!

Not quite sure about the plants, I don't think an Oscar will actually get anything out of ripping up plants, it will obviously just cost you money.

However, sprinkling insects onto the top of the water is one of the best ways to re-enact what it would be like in the wild for an Oscar. When they are swimming around in a flooded rainforest they will often feed on insects that are falling out of the trees.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)
