nc4nash created the topic: seeking advice

I have a 4 month old(or so) Oscar with a hole in his face that does not seem to be HITH. There is no mucus present. He is still eating aggressively. It started as a small pit next to his right nostril and has progressed to the point that the nostril has been completley overtaken. I will try to get a picture as soon as possible. His diet consist of flake food, chiclid sticks and brine shripm. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the site. In some cases, you do get white stringy mucus coming out of the holes, however this isn't always the case. It certainly sounds like it could be hole in the head disease to me. I think it would be a good idea if you could send a photograph to me. Both myself and other people on here will be up to give you our opinion. In the meantime, you should be doing frequent water changes every other day so that the water is in pristine condition. Try and post the photograph on this forum.
