Astro is one very good looking O. Great set up too. Not trying to be a jerk but from experience when he gets bigger he'll prob tear up your plants. I gave up live plants in my O's tanks years ago. Maybe you'll get lucky and have a plant friendly Oscar. Just don't be surprised if he digs them up.

Also I have used very similar looking sand in a planted tank but it doesn't hold nutrients very well at all. So if you are haveing trouble with the plants maybe try putting them in planter pots of some kind (I used plastic margarine containers filled with flourite, then covered over with sand). Learned this the hard way after lots of $$ and dead plants. I find flourite is pretty good and a fair price. I would bet that the extra light and plant food are the cause of your algae.

All the best of luck and again great looking fish jelouse here!

I know about plants, just testing it and trying to make the tank nicer, when ASTRO gets bigger if he doesn't like them... well he he´s the boss right? so what to do but get plants out :) Still hope to have 2 or 3 protected by rocks or wood! ;)

Nice tip about flourite and margarine containers!

I Agree on algae problem because plants are not growing fertilizations nutrients are not being absorbed...

THANKS!

Very nice indeed, let's hope he keeps that lovely coloured pattern, when he gets bigger.
He looks good!
