I´m wondering why "Astro" is acting like a skewered chicken?

Since I went out for a week (feeding him automatically)last month, and after on the return I've changed the tank layout introducing new plants he has been different, before whenever I get near the tank he would come up in front dancing for me and asking for food, at all times, now in the morning and in the afternoon he rarely does that, only later in the evening, usually around the time when I give him frozen food, he still does that enthusiastic dance showing off for attention and food, sometimes I try giving some pellets at night too instead of frozen and I've realized now that he doesn't like that, he eats some but not as much and so gladly as the frozen food.
The plants help him to hide a bit and he seems to like them running around them several times when I'm not near the tank. Even when he comes in front if there's a strange noise or sudden movement he runs immediately for cover, something that before there was no problem.

His he just being picky with the food? or there's something else? Maybe he didn't like me going out for a full week? bad luck because in September I'll be out for 2 weeks... may I'll have to take him for vacations as well :)

Oscars are very sensitive when it comes to any changes in their surroundings. It could be days if not a couple of weeks for him to act as he did before again. Especially if its a major change. As long as your water parimeters are fine and he eats I wouldnt worry too much. As far as his feeding goes...The pellets should be his major food source with anything else being a tasty treat. If he starts to refuse the pellets starve him until he accepts them again. I know it will be hard , but its really just going to be a stand off between you and him and he will be ok if he doesnt eat for a few days. Give the pellets and fish out what he doesnt eat after maybe 10 minutes. Keep doing that. Eventually his hunger will win.

"Astro" is being less chicken by now but still not the same as before my absence. About the food he also still prefers frozen but I stopped giving frozen every day and reduced from 3 to 2 meals a day giving frozen only once every other day. After all ho's the BOSS?
