Well, I bought two nice fat Bamboo shrimp today for a treat for my Oscars...I was pissed at the store guy because he took them out of their two shrimp tank and added feeder fish water to the bag, so I had some extra work to do there...I've been feeding them mainly pellets, a few feeder minnows every few weeks, and bloodworm and Brine shrimp. Damn those guys really do NOT want any part of being a meal. I expected them to go foraging along and get picked up pretty quick but they went right for the crevices in the rocks and the plants stems....One is lodged deeply between two rocks and the other well...I have NO IDEA where he went but I do NOT think they got 'em yet. He scampered down to the bottom and must be hiding in the driftwood or something... doesn't seem fair for me to capture them and just 'feed' them to my guys, hopefully they won't die and add to the ammonia to my tank if I miss them.

Looks like I'll they'll get eaten at night or I guess now I have two bamboo shrimp for my tank...either way I probably will never know...If they make it, well, more power to 'em I guess. I have no doubt though my Pleco will have a 'go' at one of 'em if they get too close...

lol i saw some of those at petco for sale one day at a reasonable price, and i was like... wow... those are huge compared to glass shrimp... i wonder if they could avoid getting eaten by the oscar....

i bought 4... 1 didnt make it to the bottom of the tank. and by morning all 4 were gone.

im sure your fish will have no problem dispatching them at their leisure. :)

those guys are too expensive for feeders, at least for me that is.
i bought one at petco for my community tank, and it was like $6. i like him, it's pretty cool watching them filter the water and eat.

I like your style win...

'Oscars! I'm inserting the Shrimp!!...Dispatch them at your LE---ISURE!!!!'
(Im listening to the Queen soundtrack to this while the Bamboos are fighting them off...yes, weird, buts its damn cool). They escape by Sunday they've earned their own tank).

'Go Shrimp Go! Go Shrimp Go!'

I told them...' You FOOLS. Those Oscars are playing some sort of barbaric GAME...now MATCH them!!!'

lol. If the one I think will make it makes it...his names Flash. And he's got an unused large Beta tank for his personal use. They really are nice looking shrimp and definitely should be used for pets...

It is fine, they are not very great nutrient wise, but from my experience they are enjoyable. Methinks variation is very good for them...frozen, live, and pellets...

Sorry I misfired on the shrimp for ya, me and my buddy's Oscars love them. I guess making them happy is a big hit or miss....

If they are dead set against frozen if you can lay your hands on live shrimp...prawns...they like those too alot...
Bloodworm?

BTW, one bamboo shrimp made it...so he's free and easy in a beta tank for the time being.

That was some vary cool information especially if true about beef heart as i give some to my two oscars once or twice a week, but still waiting on getting some live crickets and earthworms, got the kids working overtime in the garden for that one, again cheers.
