Bloodworms dont cause HITH. Fact. Simple. As long as you dont overfeed and maintain your tank well you can feed bloodworms. I can see where this could come from as a lot of bloodworms would end up rotting on the substrate as he wouldnt hunt for tiny bloodworms. You could say the same for small bits of pellets they expel from the gills when eating pellets

Once your fish grow a bit bloodworms are too small to feed anyway, and expensive!!!!

I jus thaw them so they stay cube-shaped, and my O will gulp up several after eachother!
They are indeed expensive food over here too. :(

1 pack of 24 bloodworm cubes cost about £2.20. One pack of hikari cichlid gold (250 grams) cost about £6.50. The pellets last loads longer than bloodworm

I would not suggest it as they have different nutritional needs.

Just out of curiosity is there any big difference between the Hikari Cichlid Gold and the Hikari Cichlid Bio-Gold+ foods? Other than the price? haha.

I was about to start feeding my oscar a few goldfish now and then, but after reading this thread I'm having second thoughts. In the past I've fed my oscars minnows, but only as a treat every other weekend. My Tiger O goes berserk with joy whenever I put then in my tank. He'll spend an hour or 2 hunting them all down. I'd hate to deprive him of that. Are minnows as bad as goldfish or am I ok?

ha ha yeah i had the same question too.. turn the pack and read the ingredients and they seem to have marginal differences only.. and the best part is the hikari site says continuous use required for results ha ha.. been tryin it for a couple of days and some of my O's eat and the tigers dont even go near it.. my arowana also doesnt seem to wanna eat the sticks from hikari and i so hate to starve them.. so i gave in and dropped some guppies into the oscar tank and a couple of 3 inch gold fish into my arowana tank..
