Sorry i got a little lost on thread....

Your still toying with ideas on setting up tank?

You want to go planted, most cichlids ive known or kept will chew and pull at plants, unless you go with, discus, angels, and the smaller varietys

Have you ever looked in Channa, also known as Snakeheads, depending ofcourse where you live, most people who keep channa have very nice planted tanks, as this is the ideal set up, you can get some absolutely stunning speciemens

150us gallon tank....2 tiger oscars,3 redtail tinfoil barbs,2 silver sharks,1 senegal birchir,1 gibbicep,1 common plec,1 hoplo catfish,

2.5ft breeding tank, pair of bristlenose plecs,100s of fry

solo manganeuse tank<PURE EVIL>getting a new tank..
84 us gallons, special made

I don´t want a full planted tank, just 3 or 4 valisnerias in the rear to add colour to the tank and contrast with the white sand and black rear of the tank.

OK all ciclids if do not eat plants at least dig them up  so after some considerations I'm going for:

- 2 or 3 Severos Rotkeil

- 4 Geo´s Red head

- 1 or 2 Ancistrus

Plus??? I'd like a larger fish about 30cm long as the Oscar but that´s not a problem and goes and eats the Ancistrus or the geophagus... Maybe a Green Severum??? Is there a problem to put just one with the 2 or 3 Rotkeil sevs?

A 30 cm long severum is quite rare, but even your rotkeils can grow that big. 20-25 cm is much more usual for them (all types of severum). You can mix all the colours, they also happily breed regardless of colour.

What about hoplarchus psittacus - the true parrot cichlid?

It's decided... in a few days the pump will be repaired, then I'll buy the first fishes and in a few weeks I'll show you my new babies.

Thanks!
