All of a sudden my Oscar decided he don't like me cleaning his tank lol. For the first time today he has been trying to bite me a lot as I am vacuuming the gravel. Taking lots of runs at me trying to get my arm. I was just after praising him up today saying how everyone in my family thinks my fish is a savage and vicious but he's actually not, I guess I spoke to soon. After about the sixth bite attempt I pretended to slap at him in the water and at that point I think I kind of showed him that he's only renting the tank off me ahahaha he started to back off a bit (I would never actually hit him). I figured I would share my funny story of my water change today, I think he is going through a stage where he's really moody lol.
Anyway I got my buddy here, he has my back.

Mine does not bite but pushes at me with her mouth at times. Most of the times will ignore me but on occasion apparently I bug her.

Get a 1/4 -1/2" dowel or length of pvc pipe and use a couple of zip-ties to fasten it onto the gravel vac. Make it long enough so you don't have to get your hands wet while gravel vacuuming. He can bite that all he wants and it doesn't hurt or startle you. Mine bit me a couple weeks ago on my index finger on the tender part right above the nail and drew blood. I jerked my hand out of the water like I had stuck my finger in an electrical outlet. Now I use the longer gravel vac but adding an extension would work just as well.
