I wouldnt use the 2 minute guideline at all for any Oscar. They are gluttons and especially in the juvenile stage could pack away a dangerous amount of food in 2 mins. At 5ins you should be able to step up to bigger than mini pellets. If thats what you have I would rough guess 20 or so twice a day. I bet he could gulp 20 minis in about 20 seconds. What brand of pellet are you using? Also try to offer a varied diet. Freeze dried krill and shrimp, fruit pieces, raw fish and shrimp. Some raw veg if he will accept it. Be very cautious to not overfeed. Remember what goes in has to come out. If you ever notice a lack of waste on the tank bottom, stop feeding until you are certain he "went". Dont fear of him not eating a couple days here and there, he is of size that skipping a meal wont hurt at all.

lately, i do not measured the food they take anymore... i just chopped the frozen herring and let them devoured it. the slow grabber will have less food ! in your case, solitary oscar could take as must he could in one chomping... just don't let it take too much... to avoid bloating
