I think they all buzz/hum, I have a my airpump in the bottom of my stand and the door is always shut so I cant hear it, expecially over the filters.

Try looking for an airpump with rubber pieces on the flat part that it sits, this could reduce the amount of vibrations or buzzing it makes.

There is this rubber stuff that people use in their cupboards to hold glasses in place so they don't slide around, ill try looking for a picture somewhere, but something like this could also possibly help to make it even more silent.

I think mines a whisper 100 or something, and it has rubber pieces on the bottom and is a fairly silent air pump.

Rubber Cupboard Liner:

I should try this since I do have a little extra laying around, if it works ill come back, edit this again and let you know how it went. Also, any chance you have extra carpet or rug laying around? Maybe if you placed a decent thickness of about 1/2" to 1" and place that under your air pump, maybe this will help instead of the cupboard liner if you have anything extra.

I think a lot of the problem comes down to vibrations, and then the pump itself.

Ya I have the same pump. I have two c360 filters and they are dead quite. You can't hear a thing, but the air pump is just annoying. My tank is in my living room and is on a steel stand I bought a curtain/room divider from ikea one of those dark woven ones. And it looks great I used velcro to hang it along the stand

fusion pumps are a little quieter (I have both types) but yes I think you need to cushion pump from the hard wood .... but then you should be fine min is silent and in my living room

I hollow out foam blocks for the whispers 100s thati have. Set the pump in the hollow and it will not vibrate out and is silent.

I will find the pics and post, but I no longer use that kind of pump I use larger ones now to run multiple sponges off one pump. These coralife pumps are nice. But these make a bit of noise.this one does the work of six whisper 100s
