I have a 150 gallon tank 72x24x20 so I've heard with big tanks u need more than one heater even if the one you have is capable of heating the tank. I have one 150w aquan pro heater in tank now but im confused. its only rated for 55 gallons but according to thermometer it is easily heating entire tank fine I have heater on one side and thermometer on far side. its a stick on thermometer but it should be accurate to at least 2-3 degrees. it reads 82 f and thats on far side where it technically should be colder since heater is 6 feet away. suggestions?

Dont know your geographic area, but you may still be having summer temps? Those stick ons are influenced by room temperature as well. Your 150 may be keeping up, but I bet its working hard and will not last long. I use single 300w Jager heaters for tanks in the 150 range. With proper filtration and water movement, the entire tank should be the same temp. Its not that big as to have different zones.

I may not be the Boss, but I'm ALWAYS right!
