I have a 75 gallon tank, white sand, driftwood, a few live and fake plant, 2 huge filters, one 300w heater and one 200w heater. The temp stays at 77-78, and 33% water changes are done every Friday.

My red oscar is about 3.5in right now, and it's alone in the tank. I know that it would probably be perfectly happy being alone forever, but it's so much empty space right now with it being a baby still. So is there any fish out there worth the hassle of trying to add? I've looked at other South American cichlids, but I'm not sure I wanna run the risk of fighting. I also looked at a bristle nose Pleco, but I'm afraid it will get devoured. Any suggestions are appreciated greatly!

Hello and welcome to OFL. Dont worry about your fish looking small in the 75. Next year this time the tank will look small. Do not add any other fish, there is just not enough room. BN plec as you suspect will eventually be a snack. You should get in the habit of doing larger water changes. 33% weekly MAY be keeping water relatively safe now, but not for long. When Oscar approaches 11-12ins, a 75% 2x weekly water change will be in order. If thats your fish in your avatar, please show us the larger version. Has a very unique look, maybe some Veiltail in its genes?

I may not be the Boss, but I'm ALWAYS right!

You should upload to photo bucket, that's the easiest way to put photos on the forum.

Anyway, very nice looking Oscar, he will look stunning when he's older and has all his colours

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)
