Riles52 created the topic: Spotted Raphael catfish

Hey i have 125 g tank that I had a 9 yr old oscar die a week ago...3 years ago I put a Raphael catfish in and then never saw it. I thought my oscar ate it.....after getting a new oscar and moving some things around I found it hiding in a cave.... I've never seen it out and just wanted to know if there is a specific food I should be putting in there for it and how to get it out to see how big it is. Right now I put sinking bottom feeder pellets by API in for it.

Fish will eat lots of different foods. Try shrimps, cockles or chopped up muscles, bloodworm, chopped up fish, brine shrimp (mature and bigger).

The Fish will probably be very active during the darker hours so if is any way you can get some kind of infrared camera that you may be able to watch it without spooking it.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

In the same boat as you, never ever see the Raphael cats. They are a nocturnal by nature and only come out at night. I know mine are alive and well just by how clean my tank botton is in the morning's.

You have to be real carefully with these fish as they have barbs in there dorsal and pelvic fins. If the Oscars try to eat it it could get stuck in there and kill both fish. So if it looks like it could fit in the O's mouth best to rehome it before something bad happens.
See on the right, look close you see the cats hide in the driftwood.
