No Bocourti and Pearsei! Two massive fish that basically hate each other is a bad combo. The bocourti is not as social or as easy going in a community tank. Very surprised how bad Dory is treating this much smaller fish. Usually with that size difference the dominant fish does not feel as threatened. I expected the worst from the HRP. There are a lot of cool mid sized cichlids that could 'replace' Dory but she is not that common of a fish but apparently does not do well in a community. If only you could pull Dory out and let the pearsei grow for out about three months....

You have gravel so this would not work. Ive always been intrigued by sand sifting fishes. I would consider Thorichthys passionis, Astatheros robertsoni, Astatheros Nourisatti.

I have never kept any of these but am intrigued by them. Also the common firemouth and the whole Thorichthys family.

Why another cichlid?.....MPO, I think you have enough in there, cichlid-wise.....if it were me, I would get one of these bad-boys:

Pseudacanthicus leopardus

I had one years ago....stunning fish....& cichlids won't bother them, not after they get hit w/ a tail full of sharp spines...the whole body is covered in them. PRICEY, but gorgeous. B)

JF getting mailed manyana.

That is one of my favorite plecos. They are very expensive so I went with the poor mans version, the L114.

You can see the spikes on it here

These were when I first got the little guy back in April of 2014. His red has come in a bit better since then but not a lot of growth.

My L114 was $50 from Wet Spot at 3.5 inch. My wife and I drove down for a weekend in Portland and I picked him up while I was down there. Most of L600 I have seen were priced much higher and I would have had to ship them, from Rapp's
