Hello everyone. Im new to the site. Well not new new but this is my first time posting. I signed up a
few years back but never really posted anything.
Well I think the times come for me to make a switch from other forums to this one. A little about my self and keeping fish.

I own 7 tanks and all have been up and running for over 5 years.
I own a 135,55,3 40s a 29 and a 20 gallon for a hospital tank/fry tank when ever needed. Ive owned several oscars over the years but never really had one that I got attached to until I picked up my true albino Heisenberg a few months back. This fish is a beast of a fish. His is very dominant and isnt afraid to show it. Im susprised my firemouth can hang with him in the 135. His diet is hikari biogold and gold with krill, earthworms, mealworms really anybug that makes its way in from outside he gets and he loves it. His growth rate is very fast. One of the fastest of any oscar ive owned. Bout him at 1 inch and is now over 7 inches in 5 months. Usually there a inch a month but he double his growth rate in the last few months it has me thinking he is going to be a monster.well enough of me talking. Here he is. Heres Heisenberg

And these are shots I took this morning of him

Hello and welcome to OFL. Spectacular Oscar, and you take great pics to boot. Photo of the month worthy for sure.

I totally agree, absolutely beautiful fish. However, I'm reluctant to agree that this is a true Albino, I would probably suggest it's an Lutino. Agreeably it doesn't have an awful lot of orange, but that is definitely orange pigmentation which true albinos really shouldn't have.

I'm on the fence here, I don't want to come across as being a know it all, that's just my opinion.

I hope no offence was taken with my comment :-) :-)

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

He is indeed a true albino. Its the way the light hits his body that washes out his orange. In person his orange is very vibrant almost a red and pops. Im meaning to get a light that is no so bright because I can tell the led's hurt his eyes sometimes he wont come to the surface to eat unless the lights are off. His eyes are also very pink/deep red. Its also the way the light hits his eyes that make them look black. This is one of them fish that needs to be seen in person. But theres no offense taken at all. I ve been to other forums to ask for opinions when he was younger and all said true albino. As hes gotten older he has shown the signs of true albinoism. He hasnt come down with any mahor diseases but hes very subseptable to ick and knicks and cut he gets I have to be very on top of them because when he was little he would get cuts and scraps and they would become infected if I wasnt on top of it with meds. Usally oscars dont need meds to heal cuts and scraps but he does. I think his ammune system isnt as strong as other oscars which makes me believe hes true albino

One thing I will suggest, maybe you are already aware, but Albinos/Lutinos are very light sensitive and too much/too bright of light will cause permanent eye damage. Dim lighting at best for these fellas.
