DMD123 created the topic: My 300g CustomAquariums.com fish tank

Been away for a while due to a big move. Sold a house bought a new one that needed a full gut and remodel. With this remodel came a new tank. The remodel was designed with the tank in mind! So a bunch of pics and a product review for you guys.

So this tank is from: www.customaquariums.com

Here it is on the truck, very well packaged and safely delivered on a truck with a lift gate.
Loved the little pointy hats on top to prvent things for being stacked on top!

Unwrapping my new toy

The awesome aluminum frame, very nice workmanship!

A picture of one of the vertical seems in black silicone, very neat and clean!

Bottom seems a little messy but nice thick silicone so you know you have a good seal

Still working on getting it filled... so more pics when its done.

But here is a tank review for now:

I purchased from customaquariums.com and am super happy with what I got. Just a little 300 gallon tank, lol. It is 96" long, 24" wide and 30" tall. I am just about done with the plumbing and should have it set up soon.

Just to let you know these are custom made so they do require some time. This was not a huge deal since my wife and I were selling our home and buying a new one which was remodeled to accommodate this tank. I ordered July 4th weekend and was told they were out 12 weeks. And sure enough it came within that time frame! Unlike my contractor who was very late on his work on the house. I dealt with Mike who answered all my multiple emails and talked with him on the phone a few occasions too. He was very friendly and never made me feel like any question was a dumb question.

As you can see by my photos these guys have shipped a tank or two, lol. Extremely well packaged and came in on a Fed Ex truck with a lift gate. Undoing all the screws was time consuming but necessary to check for damage before you sign off for it. There was no damage of any kind and it was in perfect shape. I joked how friends that with all the 2x4's, OSB, and screws used I could have built a shed! Not really but they do an excellent job to protect the tank and stand.

The first thing I really looked at was the craftsmanship. There is pride in their work for sure. Pictures of the vertical silicone seems show how cleanly they were done. The aluminum frame tight and unscratched. Very nicely constructed! Having the black silicone was another huge selling point for me. It always looks cleaner. Even if you get a little bit of algae on it you just dont even really see it. The aluminum frame was something I was not sure about... did some reading up and was happy with what I read.

The stand too was well built with a high quality maple plywood. No pressboard junk used here! While the stand feels light (only took two guys to move) It well supports the tank and you dont fear it will collapse. It is STURDY! I have always owned black stands but with our recent remodel the tank would be in the same space as our kitchen with white shaker cabinets. Seeing that they offered a white stand was a huge influence on the purchase also.

I wanted the full warranty so I bought the factory stand and pad for under the tank. The pad helps with any inconsistencies and helps level things out. A very dense type foam but almost a firm memory foam feel about it. When I unpacked the crate I looked all over for the pad and finally realized they pack it under the tank to help during transport. Yep these guys have shipped many tanks! They know their stuff.

This thing was HEAVY, I had EIGHT GUYS help move it. This piece of advice I give, when you get the option to rent the suction cup moving kit, just do it! I do not regret that at all! I consider it 100% necessary to safely get the tank in your house.

I have other thoughts and things regarding the set up that I will post as I go but this is a least a good idea as to the product that Custom Aquariums makes and their great workmanship!

Thanks for the welcome back! Was not intending to be away but with a full gut remodel of the house we bought time just was not there to spend time on the forums. Glad we are all moved in and soon to have this beast filled up. Yep more pictures on the way.

A bit more progress, my heater cords were a bit short so I need to add some extension cords. Did a bit of wiring inside the cabinet. I like the inside of the cabinet to look neat and organized.

Making sure to have drip loops and to have things secure and out of the way.
