drew created the topic: sand?

is it ok to use the normal common yellow sand if thouroughly washed.

ive got 4 ton of it at work which is also refered to as builders sand. is is not sharp sand which is used for concreteing which does ocasionlay have chemicles which helps it set underwater ect. the sand i am going to use is 'yellow sand' which is use for mortar. there is no chemicles in it as we add them ourselfs if we didnt it would be like chewed bread and not very good.

its very simalar to 'play' sand but not filtered for exapmle is a tad more grainy and rougher

also is it a good time to do it now as there going through yet another breeding ritual time and hes very agressive with me when i go anywhere near his ditch he dug. if i go near the plate for egg laying he goes mental at the glass jaw open

Yes, I should think it would be perfectly okay. I wouldn't worry about it being rough, fish are quite capable of dealing with that type of substrate without hurting themselves.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)
