I wouldn't use them to cycle a tank with. I wouldn't recommend them as a feeder fish either, nor in trying to breed them for the same purpose. That being said, I am not all that familiar with convicts. You want cheap inexpensive small hearty fish to help cycle your tank. Raising and breeding feeder fish is a seperate issue.

I think I found the Pink zebras ones does that matter? there at the local petco.

and those should be the first fish he eats in the tank?

Yes, they are ideal.

Feed your Oscar a good quality pellet food, don't rely on him to catch and eat these fish. He will though, over time.

I have never used convicts to cycle a tank but i heard they are hardy and are good to cycle a tank with. Also they will live with oscars well, as long as the oscar is bigger as convicts are aggressive

Breeding convicts is easy, i tried it for fun. Just put a male and a female in a tank and away they go. You can feed them to oscars as long as they oscar can get them in his mouth. I personally couldnt do it(tried it once and felt guilty) and so i sent the babies to the shop. i had 2 small(for convicts) fish and they produced about 70 babies(after some died). When ever some got to about an inch i took the them to the shop. Took about 20 at a time. During that time they laid eggs several times more(i just rubbed them out)probably 4 or 5 times. If you have several small tanks (bout 1ftx1tfx1tf) you will be have loads of fish to feed to your oscars with no problems of disease(if you can feed a live fish to another- just didnt sit well with me, the feeder running for its life with nowhere to go-i felt bad when i did it)

Hello,

I am new to the oscar sceen. I just bought a 55 gallon tank I would like to know what would be the best situation to go on here. I am looking at getting 3 fish so far. a 3 inch Tiger oscar, A green terror and another fish which I forgot the name but will post as soon as I can. I would like to know if they will go good together

All fish are different in temperament but green terrors are really agressive. When i bought my green terror the guy in the local fish shop said that it would be ok with my oscar. This was true when the green terror was small. When he got bigger my green terror was a nightmare. He was really aggressive to my oscar that was twice the size. It got to the point of getting rid of the terror or the oscar. It was goodbye to the terror everytime!!!! They are not called green terrors for nothing!!! I have seen a full size green terror in a fish shop and when you put your finger to the tank he tries to attack it - you know mouth open stuff. The kind of behaviour you would expect from a breeding fish
