Reply on led lighting I'm no expert but my two Oscars don't mind the led lighting I am running a 280 led light unit and no problems.

One of my Oscars is an albino never hides or goes to the bottom but then again every fish is different mabey try putting some hides in for it if light is stressing it out

Oscars prefer dim lighting at best.. several of my tanks have no lights. Yes, you need a bigger tank like yesterday. If you can afford, or find, a 75 or 90g is a better long term home for a fish with the size potential and waste output that an adult Oscar achieves. You will need substantial filtration, both mechanical and bio. A quality canister and large hob combo is best. Plenty of info on feeding on this site.

A canister sits on the floor, some sorta resemble a small shop vac. They hold large amounts of biological media, ceramic rings usually. They dont have to be cleaned for several months. An hob.. hang on the back, is a good mechanical filter, meaning it traps dirt from the tank. Depending on the size, the sponge portion of these filters need a rinse every 2-4 weeks. No, you dont "need" both filters, but 2 filters on 1 tank is always a good plan, should something happen to 1, you still have a backup. Be sure to consult the forum before a filter purchase, you will get good direction here. PRIORITY 1.. get a bigger tank.

the aquaclear 110 is a great hob filter.

if you use the media (or whole filter) from an established tank - it will cycle very quickly. i would say immediately - but a smaller filter would probably not be able to keep up with a bigger tank.

its common to say " the tank has to be cycled" but really its your filter. if you have enough filtration that is established - your tank is cycled.
