Only reason I asked about the flooring is, sans carpet, you might want to get one of those Lowes foam runners between the bottom of the tank stand and your hardwood floors. Might even help to level the tank. Lowes sells it by the foot and it is the perfect width for your tank stand.

Put a level on the 150GL stand when you get it to check it.......I put a small piece of wood under the side that was out of level, & then put a 1/2" piece of styro cut to fit the L & W of the stand (my 125GL)....it's perfectly level. B)

Where did you get the stand for the 40GL?

ok so I can basically use the same method I did with the little 40 gal. if need be is it ok to use two shims ontop of each if I can't get the right size piece of wood?

Got the stand from amazon. I needed something with a lower center of gravity and that they wouldn't try and reach up to... My daughter would have eventually knocked the thing over on the metal stand... the thing is pretty damn solid also used pl 200 glue in the seams

The shims on the 40 are fine (as Doug said I would clean up the edges and not have them stick out so far). with the 150 I would recommend you go get these
www.glazelockshims.com/products.htm

These are interlocking and will not compress, they can also be painted before you install to help hide them.

Fail to plan then plan to fail. :P Believe me I asked plenty of questions and did lots of research before I got started also.

I so agree.. I want a bedroom tank so bad but my boyfriend says no way :(
He only allows me to have 1 tank at a time, if I could have it my way I would maybe have about 4 or 5 by now... However I do have spare empty tanks in the garage.
