You sir are a tosser.

@admin you are the only person who talk to people like a person, the only reason I come on the forum is because the internet has all different things on it saying a 30gal tank is fine for an oscar to saying minimum 90gal tanks for 1 oscar.

Hey dude im not the type of guy that does the name calling and definitly not on the internet where nothing can be done about it would you feel better if I worded it like this " you dont want to end up posting in the emergency forum asking whats wrong withnmy fish"... that being said why dont you take the advice these guys are giving are giving you and then research things like how nitrates are removed from your tank territorial aggression. I am planning on setting up a large tank and thought I would be able to stock it like the brooklyn aquarium but was told different by the members here and then actually read up on what they told me... now im trying to stock it more on the lighter side cuz I dont want any of those headaches

That's going to cycle the water 5 times an hour almost 6. I've also noticed the way some people talk on the forum is a joke!

You need to visit more websites. I highly doubt this is the only website that will say to only keep 1 Oscar in a tank that size. Many will tell you a 48x18x18 is only good enough for 1 Oscar. Here, I will provide you some sites with active members:

Whoa whoa whoa, hold up..

To the OP, you came on here for advice, after you already spoken with a "professional" and your web surfing, it seems like you honestly came here for a second opinion with no intention to take, but to just straight up ignore and argue with everyone's knowledge here of fish keeping. If you have read on the internet and even read the article we have here on how to house an oscar, your entire post just seems like a waste of everyone's time. It's rude to call names and to start petty arguments when we want nothing more than the best for your oscar.

this is a large common pleco

i guess you can decide if a fish that big should be in a 70 gallon

Don't dwell on what went wrong. Instead focus on what to do next

mcnally, you would be wise to pay attention to the advice you get here from the more experienced boarders, and I do not count myself among them, though I am smart enough to pay attention to what they say.

+100

you said the other sites are not in line with the advice you were given on OFL. read this thread from another site and his tank is bigger than yours bro. Also read up on your plecos because from what I learned on THIS site not all of them actually eat algae and may produce more waste than they are worth.

I don't understand where the information that an oscar can live in a smaller tank comes from. When I search the net for oscar tank size I have a hard time finding info that supports smaller than a 55 recommended. Most say that a larger tank is eventually required. Maybe you've been looking at too many youtube vids of improperly kept oscars as that's what I usually see on there.

It is simply wishful thinking. I tried it for about 4 or 5 days with 2x1.5" to 2" oscars a year ago, that is how I ended up with a second 55gal. Even if the fish get along for a while, anyone who has seen a full grown oscar in a 4' tank would realize this is a bad deal for the fish. If I ever had a fish store, I would display a big oscar in a 4" tank just so people could truly understand what they are getting. Youtube videos are definitely bad for novice fishkeepers.
