My grandpop is in the hospital (not the first of course) but hes very ill and my family thinks this will be his last go around, so within a month we think hes gonna be gone :C, so saying that my grandma wants to move back down to NC were i live when he passes she wants to put in new carpet and change up the house in ways, i was wondering what should i do when it comes to changing the carpet? idk how long it takes also i have a spare 20 gal thats empty i can use as a temp while i move my 55 and its stand to put carpet in but idk if a 20 gal is good enough or how long my fish can handle a 20 gal, btw my fish now is about 5, 5.5 inches , just wanting to know the best method and suggestions

For 1 day it is not an issue, as long as you have the filter and heater on it. It shouldn't take more than 1 day to change the carpet in that room. Hopefully the carpet will be changed before outside temps get below 65F in your area.

Please be carefull that the "stuck"thermometer ill not boil your fish. Believe me, you wouldtn't be the first!
Maybe better to invest in a descent functioning heater.
Good luck on the carpet.

I think he means a preset heater, they come from the factory sealed up set at 75 degrees
