How do you guys do water changes what's an effective and fast way to top up the water? How do you deal with temperature change when draining a 150 gallen and toping up with tap water?

Cheers

Get one of these:

Python water changer....never carry a bucket.

And some of this:

Drain tank while cleaning gravel. Adjust temp to a few degrees cooler than what's in the tank (I do cold water WC's on my CA tanks....they LOVE it!!) add dechlorinator, & refill.

I have 5 tanks & a betta bowl......(my wife saw him in PetSmart & felt bad that he was in that tiny bowl, had a 3GL bowl I picked up @ a flea market, put a small cycled spong in their & some Java frern, so now we have a Betta  ) & do 75% WC's 2X weekly on all my tanks (55,55,75,125, & 20) in a few hours....I never lift a bucket.

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.

Adjust temp to few degrees? What do you mean? Is I fine to put tap water in that is about 65 degrees straight out the tap?

A little confusing here.. you have hot water? You can change 75% of a 150g without running out of hot water, presuming you have a normal functioning h/w tank. Get your incoming water as close to the tank temp as you can, just by feel works fine, keep an eye on the thermometer if you dont trust your feel. Drain, add conditioner, refill. Too easy.

Ah I understand sadly my room is downstairs away from the hot water tap. I suppose I could get the extender as well.
