I am moving my oscar rom a 65 gallon tank to a 125 gallon tank with a wet dry filter I've had the new tank set up for two days and have been using prime and stability I'm moving him in 2 days and I am worried about losing him! Any suggestions to make the move easy?

Having a filter running on an empty (no fish) tank is not doing anything. Using Prime is also, well actually wasting it. Prime is a dechlorinator and also an ammonia control, but with no fish in to produce ammonia??? When adding your fish you want to move the filter(s) from the old tank and put them on the new one. Then add the Oscar. Then monitor your water parameters daily to see how often you need water changes The beneficial bacteria you need are in the filter media of your filters on the 65. Your wet/dry will grow its own bacteria colony, your old filtration will help with this.

No, put the entire filter as is on the 125. But dont wait long to add the fish. Without an ammonia source(fish), the bb in your C4 will die off.

You say you've got a wet/dry filter? Is that a canister filter, may be one of the Eheim wet dry filters? What filter have you got on the 65 gallon at the moment? Personally I would cycle the new tank before moving the fish into it. If possible you could take a little bit of established biological media from your existing filter and seed the new filter, that will at least help establish a bacteria colony. If I was in your position, I would probably try and cycle the tank without fish, just use ammonia and a bottle, you can get it from eBay. If you would rather not go down this route, then get yourself a bunch of small community fish and cycle the tank that way. But really, since you have both tanks running, I think that cycling the new tank first will eliminate your OSCAR having live in less than desirable conditions for a few weeks because when you cycle and aquarium, you cannot avoid toxins in the water, you need ammonia for the bacteria to build up.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

i dont think he plans on keeping the 65g running.

I would move the filter from the 65g to the new tank. There is enough bacteria in the c4 filter to have an instant cycle on the 125 g for the single oscar that you have.

How long should I leave the c4 on the new tank? I've been keeping an eye on my parameters and everything is looking good....the tank has been up and going for 8 days
