This isnthat he looked like yesterday. Today he looks much better and healing up in some places

I just opened the lid to raise the temp to 82 and he goes into the death act

He is probably quite stressed from his trip and obvious rough time getting captured. Do you have any plastic plants you can add to the tank to float on the surface? If so put a bunch in the tank to make him think he has more cover and he may go sit under those for a few days while getting used to his surroundings. Leave the light off feed only a bit of food. Put one pellet in if he doesn't take it, remove it and offer no more. Give him his space.. Stay out of the tank except for water changes and to remove the pellet/s he won't eat. Move slowly and smooth motions around the tank, I've found being slow and smooth keeps fish calmer when they are acclimating.

No plants but I got him a tree stump/ root monstrosity thinking he would find cover in there but no dice maybe I should remove the giant danios

Maybe Rock has an idea of something else to float on the surface to help since that seems to be where he wants to hang out. All I can think of is plastic plants.
