Sounds like the little guy needs some more time to acclimate to his new surroundings. When my o was little he would get spooked and race around the tank smacking himself silly. Clean water and a couple days and he'd heal right up. I leave a nite light on for Sarge.lol I would just give him time. Im sure he will come around

Just replied dave.... i got rid of the giant danios and had to relocate and asian bb cat (beating the crap out of the clown loach) the acara started getting involved so hes in the 55 real small though under 3 inches. Should I just leave the lights off for a couple of weeks I've been putting them on for a couple of hours every night thinking that may get him used to it.

Some of the gd's were over 3 inches and capone avoided them like the plague figured maybe that would help settle in. I did catch him inn the middle of the tank. I just wanna try having him stressed all the time and end up weakening his immune system leading to some sort ofn sickness

No lights should work......but IMPO, I would just go w/ a less bright bulb, & simply use a real small fluorescent fixture, maybe 12" tops. You want to see the colors of your fish, but @ the same time O's don't care for bright light.....I find smaller FL fixtures a happy medium.

Try feeding him some live food, like earthworms or giant mealworms.....he gets a taste of LF, he associates you w/ live food, game on. B)

You could also put a small TV in the room (if you have one laying around), right near the tank, as in right in front of it....the fish will see the movement, & get used to it. Not 100% success rate, but it's worth a shot.

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.

I covered the leds with blue painters tape when I first got him and little buy little would pull a strip off maybe I will cover them up again. Was tryingn to keep the lights on so that he would get used to it and would have issues when he was in the bigger tank in the living room. Tv trick might be worth a shot
