Wow looks great and familiar. I believe you have the same tank and stand that I have. Marineland Monterey. I also had the same black gravel In mine until I switched to pool filter sand. I noticed it wasn't mentioned yet, but you need to get the opening in the back covered. I used a piece of clear lexan and cut slots in it as required for the filters and stuff and used small screws to hold it in place. I put my ac110 on the far right that way when I want to service it I pull 2 screws out and pull that end of the lexan back. I placed the input for the fx on the far left and the output in the middle. My calm spot is 1/3 of the way down the tank from the left and all debris tends to gather there making cleaning a breeze. But get that back covered, I lost an oscar leaving that open. I had the piece cut and was bringing it home from work on a Saturday, but the oscar jumped out and died on the Friday. I'll take some pics later today of what I found to be the best way of setting it up that I could find. Very nice setup, you'll love it and so will your fish.

Has Capone had any other cichlid tankmates since you have had him? Might take a little time for him to adjust but the tank is big enough for them all to figure out their place. Looking good, cant wait to see pics with Capone in there.

Here's some pics of the lexan I put on the inside, back of the canopy to prevent any more jumpers
The AC110 cutout

The FX input and some lighting wires

The FX output and a long shot of the back

And a long shot looking the other way

And the FX under the stand

Thanks guys Im happy with it still have to play around with the rocks but I wouldnt have been able to do this with out all of the help I've gotten from ofl.
No capone hasn't had any cichlid tank mates I love all my fish and treat them as pets but for me dory is my fav probably because how she interacts with my daughter but as time went on the 30 became a bit cramped and she became skittish and hid allot. I was thrilled to see her swimming around and exploring the tank she looked happy...cheesey I know.
J I really like the filter placement would probably give me more evem surface agitation to (have in the out put in the middle) if I move the input to the left side of the tank it would be behind the large peice of wood do you think it will still be affective? Also donyounthinkni have to cover the bsck of the canopy even though I have the glass lids ?
