300 gallons...WOOW!!! I bet leveling is all the more important with a tank this huge. What do you plan to put in this mega tank???

I don't think levelling will be too much of a problem. I am having the floor reinforced with concrete so I am going to make sure it's exactly level. I'll take some photos tomorrow.

As for what's going in it, most of the fish I have at the moment. I was going to set up a South American Cichlid tank but I can't bear to part with my two large ClownLoach. So I decided to have a sort of South American theme but with a few foreigners. That being two Syndontis catfish and four ClownLoach. I also have my two red Oscars, hopefully a pair. I will possibly put two or three more fish in but I haven't decided what yet. Oh, forgot about my jade eyed Cichlid, might get a male for her. I might get a Severum. They are quite placid. Other than that, I'll have to wait and see.

Now, there's a dedicated "fishkeeper" for you. ;)

(I'm jealous!)

IF I went to my Wife and asked to do something like that?
It would get filled with concrete alright, and I'd be under it, and while she was at it the dog would probably be in there with me too!

 you crack me up. Just tell the wife "I'm getting a 500 gallon tank, like it or lump it"

By the way, I have got a spare bed here for you if needed

This sounds absolutely adventurous and very beautifull. Please keep us posted on the developments in that tank. I've recently also started a Malawi tank - also very beautiful. I've got a stand in my living room, containing 3 x 250 litre tanks, so also a huge lot of weight, especially with all the rocks in the Malai tank. Well, enjoy your project, what would life be without these little creaturs :-)

I will be taking pictures all the way through so nice to see it progress through to having it fully stocked. I have decided to keep my 125 gallon tank and just have 2 red Oscars in it, hopefully a breeding pair. This hobby can be very addictive

you could have a swim with the fishes in that one.lol cool very cool would be nicer in the house and a floor would hold it if prepared properly from underneath.

I converted my garage into a computer/radio/aquarium room. Even though the garage floor is concrete, I needed insulation which is why I have had to reinforce it with concrete.

Will be ordering the tank in a few days time.

No need for the extra bed, but thanks for the offer. My Wife keeps reminding me of the garden shed out back of the house and how it could be ideal for me and the dog. (Little doe's she know how much a guy might actually enjoy that sanctuary right?)

Penn, are you building this aquarium yourself? Or are you having it built for you? Or is someone just supplying the glass cut to size? How thick will the glass be, 1/2"? Will you have holes in the bottom for overflows? I'd like to see photos as you build it.

I just look forward to the day when I can upgrade to a 6 foot long 125 gallon tank, maybe in a year or so with some luck. I just don't have the place for it, at least not a great place. That would definitely need to go on the first floor of the house.
