Have you by chance kept the Bahia or Para ? If so, are they as aggressive / pushy as the Orbic.'s ?

I have a wild caught Bahia red tail Oscar, and I can attest to the aggressiveness. Very aggressive and more outgoing compared to any other Oscar I've kept over the years. Good luck in your search.. those bumblebees (orbics) are an awesome looking Oscar for sure.

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.

It made me realize that while you guys are talking about a "species" (not confirmed), does anyone keep Astronotus crassipinnis?

WOW.. literally wants to bite the hand that feeds it !!! Never thought the aggression spoken of was towards EVERTHING ! Always thought it was towards it's tank mates / partner / etc :S What size tank is that beauty in DMD123 ? Was it raised alone or did it eventually MAKE IT SELF alone  ??

PS...."Chunk"....that's funny and suits him WELL

I have a plain old Petsmart Tiger Oscar, about 2 and a bit yrs old. Over a foot long. More aggressive than Chunk. Attacks the Python tube during water change, flares gills and turns great colors if you get right up in his face. Accepts a bigger Sailfin pleco as a tankmate, but not receptive to any other fish.

I may not be the Boss, but I'm ALWAYS right!

Chunk is funny in that he has no issues with his tankmates which are a small L114 pleco and two Australian rainbows. Yep an 11" Oscar with 'food sized' tankmates and zero issues. They are in a 75g being filtered with an AC110 and Eheim 2217. Multiple large water changes are a must.

Poseidon my red Oscar was attacking the glass and flaring his gills at me last night. Quite the impressive display! I have never seen him do that before. Really want to capture an image of it. He also started to chase the severum in the tank with him around. I really hope he doesn't start becoming too aggressive! One solo oscar in a tank is enough for me.
