I'd like to have pairs, but I don't want the aggression or breeding. Not up to that task yet. I'll check out the wetspot, hopefully something catches my eye.

I can definitely add a vote for some Severums. I have a pair of Rotkeil and a gold in my 265 with an Oscar and JD. Good community tank. Red spot or Super red Sevs are also quite stunning. Acaras are nice. A Nicaraguan cichlid would be a good addition as well. A CA fish, but quite mild mannered and good for a big community tank.

I would snap them up in a blink. I had one a while back, passed from old age I think. Was a good 7-8ins and just gorgeous.

That's pricey imo, unless they are a confirmed breeding pair. I paid 20 for mine as an adult, but different locales brings different costs. Something is only worth what someone will pay for it. I would want to know the age as well. Don't wanna shell out big dough for fish that may be winding down.

Kudos for going the uncommon route. i love the look of a large community tank. Have been trying to get a successful comm set up for some time my issue was already having adult fish... as you have too. If you were to start with all juvies roughly the same size things would be allot easier. Most uncommon fish are hard to find as juvies...finding adults well good luck. I have a metae in time out (another tank) because she was relelentlessly harrassing my juvie pearsei the plan is to let him gain some size then add her back into the mix. Rapps has a great site also check out www.wetspottropicals.com and aquabid.com

Pearsei
Bocourti
aequidens metae
Milder vieja could work as well...regani, heterospilus maybe synspilum.
Chocolate cichlids.

Not sure how you feel about plecos but rapps also has L600 and L25 (i think)

Good luck man even though it can get annoying its a great learning experience.... some fish will just not play nice while others will.

P.s. i also had an aggressive bumble bee oscar that was beautiful but i wanted to do the uncommon fish thing as well and decided to rehome him to another member thiugh i miss the fish i dont regret the choice. If not i wouldnt have experienced some cool fish
