scarhbar created the topic: Help switching to dirted tank?

This saturday, I am turning my Angel's tank into a dirt substrate tank. I just need a few pointers on how to do it. I was planning on using some organic soil, but not sure how many bags to buy :/ how many lbs? Then on top of that, I was going to do a layer of eco complete planted substrate. That should work nicely, right?

Wow they say potting mix!!
I would love to see this done but the only potting mix i see has bark and really light looking stuff in it, i can just imagine most of it floating when water is added.
Hope you`ll post some pics once its done scarhbar :)

I have setup and owned 2 different dirt tanks for my plants a while back. Ive used flourite by itself only and laterite mixed with dirt but not eco complete. Should be no problem at all though.

I can tell you one thing for sure. If you are gonna leave water in the tank its going to be messy, messy, messy. I would remove the fish if at all possible or you just might not see your fish for several hours until the tank clears.

i like your attempt at a higher degree of difficulty.

i don't have a clue how to do it. but i did watch a video on the making of a sump where the guy used a mud bed as a media.
