donk232 created the topic: lily pads are growing

I love the look of lily pads, i was tempted to just pull on out of the wild(i live in FL) and put it in my tank but they are too HUGE. are there any common smaller aquarium options? also are the fast growing? i dont mind trimming or if i have to tie them up to keep them from taking over, but im incredibly impatient so fast growning is a deal breaker. :P :P

now that's an Idea...

I was reading on this website waterlilies.com and it has some smaller varieties. They would need moderate sunlight and one plant has 5-7 lily pads with 2-3 flowers. Minimum 2 feet of water, you would want to have a pretty big tank for them.

Thanks for the idea :)

Hey, me too!

I'm also going to try a water lily, I will have 20 inches of depth. It's still a bit away though. Apparently (google search), people have had either great luck with it, or no luck at at all. You both need sunlight, or just aquarium lights will do. You both need to pot it, and/or not potting it works just fine...

Eh. Clear as mud.

Went to Lowes and found several color varieties of water lilies. Thought I'd share if anyone wants them.
