JoseO created the topic: Making CO2 for the plants

I have just started keeping plants.

I would like to know if its ok to try the 3 quarter cup Sugar and 1 teaspoon yeast method to produce CO2 for the plants. This is what i read on the net.

Knowledge sharing please

We first need to know what lights you have, what's your tank size, what plants are we talking about, what fertilisers.

Yes, you definitely could make CO2 that way (although controlling the output is apparently tricky), but if not done in a balanced way with lights, fertilisers and plants, all you'll get is algae.

I have 2 T5 bulbs in my tank with Flourite tabs for each plant. Hoping to get them to become more green and lush and not so blah and brown, lol.

I have normal lights. I use CFL lights. The tank is 2'x1'x1'....this is the first time i am keeping plants. In another link i had put some Cichilids photos where those plants are visible. I am a beginner with plants so trying and learning.

Diy co2 works well in small tanks, once you go larger than 30g it gets tricky and usually leads to a bad outbreak of bba. Like Nina said we need to know you tank size, lighting, substrate, fish stocking, plants you are growing, also do you dose ferts or root tabs??
