Some rocks and a piece of driftwood would look nice. And yes tank water will evaporate but since you'll be doing a couple 50% water changes a week it'll be topped up all the time.
Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.

He likely won't go in the flower pot but may hide and sleep behind it. I like the looks of rocks and driftwood myself but it's all personal preference.

hi, just got through your thread ... from other forums where they pick up their own DW, they'll soak, sand blast and baked .... so it's not a quick $$$ maker if you think of it ..... don't forget you'll need to take time to ship them out also...
If your O's not a juvie yet, i would add some DW ... once it hits the 8 inches mark, i'll remove everything ......will need the extra swim space .... the slate is for mostly breeding ....

bare bottom is so much easier to clean ... you can add some plants ... hit or miss with real plants ....
not required to add substrate.......

Just thought i would add to the rock thing.
So i wanted to put a flat rock in my tank. Found ine in the aquarium went to put it in the oven and recalled i didnt do it that way.
So now im boiling the rock in a pot. Lower temprature and not only would it clear out any salt for example it means that if the rock does try to break it apart the water will contain it.
