Well it's been some work but my 10 gallon planted tank is finally working out. I think the thing the pushed me into success was the co2 diffuser. My plants are all green and growing. I thought I was going to have a snail explosion but the betta has been eating the smaller snails and their eggs. My ammonia and nitrite are at 0 and my nitrates are holding steady around 10ppm. Last water change I did was about 2 weeks ago :-). I'm still fighting a little bit of algae but its not dominating the tank anymore. I might add a mystery snail because the current largest snails are pea-sized. Here are some pictures!

thanks guys. this tank has been the biggest pain ever haha.

the diffuser is some mini fluval diffuser. its kind of a pain in the ass though. the tanks that you fill with co2 have to be filled 2-3 times a day. i dont mind but i can see how some would.

That looks good, really want to try a fully planted tank myself some day.
I have Microsorum pteropus on a large piece of bogwood and a couple of pieces of lava rock with anubais in my O's tank.

My plants have survived so far but i just have a juvenile O in the tank and only for 2 weeks. Only time will tell if they last.

Looks good. I guess we had the same idea. I just finished my first planted tank a few days ago ... also a 10 gallon. I was wondering what you had for the lighting. I've got 2 fluorescent lights each made for 5 gallon tanks on mine so I'm looking into a diy project that'll give me better output without costing too much.
