UNC-CH created the topic: Question re: cultivating plants

I apologize for the sideways pictures.

Some of the plants in my planted tank are really getting tall and I'm not sure which ones I can clip and plant elsewhere. Can anyone tell me if I can and where/how to cut these plants and plant the clippings somewhere else (cultivate)?

There are three. The second two are ludwegia but I don't know about the first.

Here's a plant that's very red on the underside of the leaves. As it gets taller, can I cut it halfway up, plant and grow the upper half?

Here, the ludwegia stalks have grown tall and all the leaves are at the top of the water. Same question about cutting and planting the clippings.

Here, the green ludwegia is growing over some java fern. Same question.

Thanks. I'm new to plants and have a lot to learn.

The vals you can just cut to desired length with scissors like mowing the grass, the ludwegia just cut between the nodes then you can sell your cuttings or cut the bottom leafs off the stem of the cutting and push them into the substrate and they will root themselves making a new plant..........or just pitch them
