We got no fancy equipment, except for the wireless beepers that cost us more than the whole setup! Just cheap rods with expensive lines on them.
2 of the 4 rods we use are long distance rods and we can place to bait at over 600foot from the place where we camp.
That's one major difference with casting and this is where the canoe comes in handy.
But with the wireless beepers we can try to lure some bass or pike, while waiting for the carp.
Here's a small bream, and most carp fisher in Holland hate those, for they will eat the food for the carp, and even take the boilies.
But they;re not strong enough to put up a fight on the heavy lines for the carp.

Haha...yeah it's kind of funny that Carp are great to fish for some places but like Win said where I am there are so many they are considered almost a nuisance fish...but that being said they do put up one hell of a fight! :cheer:

I usually fish for bass most often but also like crappie, catfish, muskie, pike, and walleye when I get one...and who can complain about a nice perch fry! :cheer:

A couple times a year I usually get up to my uncles house in michigan and we go lake trout fishing on Lake Superior...nothing like a 2 hour boat ride and fishing in close to 1000 ft. of water! Lets just say after getting a big lake trout you are tired as hell from reeling it in! haha!

Fishing is just relaxing for me...grab some beer and sit and catch little bluegills all day and I'm happy as can be! :)

-Come to the darkside...we have cookies!
-I wake up every morning and I piss excellence!
-I'm sorry...I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am!

Aggreed, carp can be pests, but they got quite a status in Holland.
A big carp will play a better game of "Tug of war" then my dog!
That's the main reason, and on the other hand their sheer beauty!!!
Look at this beauty!

I caught this one in a local pond, at one minute from my work.

We got Polish folks coming over every year.
They catch the carp and build a barbeque...
but if the Dutch fishermen see you killing a carp, they might lynch you!
We do catch a lot of Pike and Bass over here, but we got no largemouth bass over here.
Just smaller species.
@Ikkie: you ate all the fish without photographing them? ;)

It's kind of odd to catch a Bass here. (Well in my little corner of the woods anyway.) Most of the lakes are full of Rainbow Trout; which I think tastes like yuck. Springer season is literally days away, and nothing in the rivers (aside from the Sturgeon in the Columbia) will put up a fight like a Salmon. Too bad I don't like Salmon either. LOL

If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?
