Hey, good luck with the foundation, you shouldn't have too much of a problem. You'll be amazed what you can do with 10 W. Having said that I have quite a few friends who are foundation licence holders and do they honestly stick to 10 W? Do they tell as like. Anyway, a mate of mine has just taken his intermediate and sailed through it. Blimey, it seems a lifetime ago since I got my ticket, that was back in 1995.

I've also got a Pres Lincoln. They were actually banned in the UK until a few years ago when they started selling them again. However, they only had 10 meter band enabled. But since they originally operated from 26, right up to 30 MHz, it wasn't difficult to get them back into their own original state. So mine operates on all the bands. I also had one back in the early 90s, also had the Uniden equivalent.

CB is virtually dead down here, you can click around on the UK 40 and hear absolutely no one. Anyway, let me know how you get on and maybe we can hook up from 40 m or something, that is a brilliant band as you can talk to people all around the UK during the day, sort of like when we used to get the skip on the CB.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

You are never going to win the argument using illegal equipment. However, once you get your amateur radio license, as long as your equipment is all legal and working properly, you could in theory wipe out your neighbours television or maybe radio and they couldn't do anything about it because it's actually the television that is at fault and not the amateur radio equipment. Televisions were always notorious are picking up any type of transmission from radios, I think digital fares little better. However, amateur radio operators are almost encouraged to try and sort the problem out south to keep everyone happy and live in harmony.

I would be very careful with your Pres Lincoln when you do get your license. Remember that this is actually an illegal radio because it can transmit an illegal frequencies and I can tell you that if you are ever caught using it, or even in possession of this type of equipment they would make an example out of you and you would lose your licence and probably get a hefty fine as well, be very careful.

I have no idea about frequencies just above 30 MHz. The Magnum is another 10 meter radio that can be modified to transmit on the CB frequencies, many people do use them. Like I said, CB has had its day down here. You just don't hear anyone on at all, it is absolutely completely dead.
