One of the biggest obstacles of breeding oscars is for best results, you need 6 oscars. That might not be a problem for other cichlids, but may be a problem for oscars because they are quite big fishes.

Welcome to OFL. A difficult task considering that Oscars are not of breeding age until about 18 months minimum. By this time they should be around a foot long, so very large tank is necessary. Then another obstacle is the difficulty in sexing them. A pair of adult Oscars should have a minimum 6ft tank of 125gals, just for themselves. Water must be kept very clean, 2 large water changes per week, heavy filtration, both biological and mechanical. Then, all said and done, and if you get a pair to breed, what are you going to do with many dozen baby Oscars?

breeding any fish requires dedication...
let me ask first some question:

1) how long are you keeping an oscar?
2) Do your know the life cycle of an oscar?

how to breed an oscar? first thing to learn is "to keep them alive".
many hobbyist have some difficulty in keeping them alive...
