Forgot to mention the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH are at safe levels.

Welcome to our community.

When you say ammonia, nitrite and nitrate are at safe levels, exactly what are the readings? Also, what is your pH?

Is it just the one fish that is behaving like this? Are all other fish okay?

Maybe you could take a photograph of your setup so we can get a good idea of what you are using.

And definitely, take a photo or video of the fish, please.

Is the fish breathing heavily, i.e. constantly opening and closing its mouth and gills? This is often a sign of distress or illness.

If you could get back to us then we will try and help.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate are at zero, and the pH is 7.2 - 7, and he is breathing fine, and he is the only affected fish. the lighting actually camouflages the fish so it would be hard to see in a video, but it might help.

Something seems a little off here, a nitrate reading of zero should not occur in a properly cycled tank (unless of course you have just done a massive 100%+ water change and taken your readings immediately after).

How are you testing your water? If using the API liquid kit, be sure to shake the s*** out of bottle #2, it is known to give false readings if not properly agitated.

What size are your fish? 100g would be on the smallside for 2 adult Oscars.
Is the 100g including the volume occupied by goldfish? I can't really picture your set up but if tanks are interconnected then all fish in the setup will be contributing to the bioload.

What filtration do you use and what is your water change schedule?
Sorry for all the questions-just looking to help.

The tank with the Oscars is 100 gallon, and it is connected to a 50 gallon tank that contains the goldfish. I also noticed that he apears to be breathing slowly, but not labored, and is limiting his movement.

Have you changed anything in/on the tank recently? Filters/decor?
When did you last perform a water change and what volume?
Have you re-tested your nitrate levels-shaking the s*** out of bottle 2?
Has there been any aggression between your 2 Oscars?
