Well, I'm not sure the nitrate was at 140. It is hard to tell. The bottle test is RED, but it is not maroon. On the strip, it looks like 80, so it must be more like 80. I will change the water again tomorrow, 50% this time. I did 1/3 again today, and changed out the filter, rinsing only in filtered water. Kept the bio-filter and the pre-filter, just added a little new. Zeocarb, ammonia remover, clearmax and a recharged fluval nitrate remover bag. I put in stress coat, stress zyme and melafix. I've raised this fish from 1.5", had him for years, but lately I have been very busy with traveling, etc. and he's probably not gotten enuf attention. The catfish is only about 6" long and he seems fine and looks fine. I would love to re-home these fish and get out of this aquarium maintenance altogether, but there is nowhere around here that can help me with that, and I haven't had time to interview suitable adopters thru advertisement. Do you know of anyone in or close to Williston, North Dakota that would be a good adopter for these fish? I would gladly give them away to the right person. I called pet stores in Minot and Bismarck, and neither had any room for them. The pet store here is a JOKE, they don't even have a fish tank in there.
