Yesterday everything was fine. No other damaged visible on the fish. He always had a small lump on the skin above the upper part of the eye but today all the eye seems to have popped out his face. It's twice as big as a normal eye and all around the eye not only the eye itself.

Has he bumped in to something and it will heal by itself or there's some medical concern and treatment for this? If so may this be contagious?

I would treat as a bacterial issue. Kanamycin or tetracycline. If the fish is still eating, treat the food. Acts quicker, more efficiently. Epsom salt may soothe as well

Tanks.

I'll keep that treatments in mind but for now I'm using seachem paraguard that I have at home. This fish as been treated before to fin roth with paraguard and it was effective. Hope it does the job too this time.

He is in a hospital tank and yesterday refused eating. I did that too the other time he was on treatment.

Well as I said I'm treating with Seachem paraguard for the last 5 days and the eye is better but not normal yet. Should I keep on the treatment and for how long?

He is still not eating. Probably due to the change of tank because he was eating well before.

About those Kanamycin or tetracycline, is that a brand or the ingredient of a medicine? I never heard of it here.

I've been recommended also Seachem Neoplex that is an antibiotic for external bacterial diseases. Any experience with that?

If you can get Neoplex, its a good med. Kanaplex is the Seachem brand of Kanamycin based med. Tetracyclene is sold by API that I know of. Could be others on your side of the world. Google search, maybe Amazon? Good to see some progress.

How long should I keep with paraguard? I'm thinking to stop on Sunday and the see how he reacts for a few days before deciding to submit him to any other treatment. Any other suggestion?

Seachem a and API meds are available in some specialized stores in Portugal. None near my home but I caan order it online.

Between Neoplex and Kanaplex what is the most effective for popeye and fin roth?

He had fin roth before that was dealt only with paraguard but I suspect that this time inspite looking better, he won't be fully cured only with paraguard.

I think this Oscar will always have this type of problems, when in stress as it may have been when I took them out for a box during 2 hours or so, while changing the sand in their tank. The day after the eye popped.

The albino has always shown good health.

Since my last post the only difference is that today he as eaten frozen shrimp. Before I tried the usual Hikari cichlid gold pellets and he refused it.

Tomorrow I'll make a massive wc and stop the paraguard treatment. 8 days on this should be enough.

If in a week or so the eye doesn't get fully normal I'll have to go to the next stage on treatment, using seachem neoplex or kanaplex that are more aggressive meds I think.
