jnet created the topic: fishtank design tools

Is there any good pc tools that you cna create your wanted design on? I mean like the ones you can use for your gardens, kitchens and bathrooms that kind of thing and free to use :)

I just have a crazy plan I gonna never get around to doing it but just want to know what it would look like and if possible. I want a tank that is to the floor on one half but higher on other so you would have a cupboard with all the filters and so on. All hidden away. Also for the fish it would have shallow end and then deep end. Kind of like [__--] That in shape :)

Would it work and what cost would that be? Just thinking would make an amazing tank and solve my lack of space issue :)

I'm living my life, but not necessarily in the right order :)

the glass is the expensive part of the thing... you need certain thickness for how deep and wide you want it. here's a chart

saltaquarium.about.com/od/planasystem/ig/Guide-Charts--Tables--Diagrams/Glass-Thickness-Calculator.htm

then there is the fish safe nontoxic sealant you would have to get, and that stuff aint cheap beleive me, I had to repair one of my tanks and a small tube was almost 20 bucks. granted hopefuly the glass place I bought it from didn't rip me off.

but I don't think there is a design DIY free to use thing out there yet for fishtank designs..I haven't come across one in all my searching :( I think you would have to by one for your PC. I could be wrong tho.

Anything is possible Jnet... I just bought and then sold a 160g tank...
Why did I sell a 160??? Because the measurements are the oddest I have ever seen. And in NO way could I have cleaned this tank without getting into it.. LOL

3FT long x 2ft wide x 4ft tall....
In the end, with my monsters I would have had to used it as a one fish set up...

So I sold it... But I think with a little work the tank you are talking about could be done!

I know cleaning would be BIG issue because I'm looking at the deepest part being say 4 or 5 foot depending on cost and shortest part being 2foot. Glass would have to be pretty think but I know Aquaone is best sealant. Just if it leaks it would be huge disaster but how cool would it look. :woohoo: It would be 5long, maybe 2wide and then 2down and then 4down. So much fun for the fish and very odd just wonder if too much pressure on the corners.

I'm living my life, but not necessarily in the right order :)
